Under the ongoing GOI-UNDP-WWF-GTF project on small wild cats, a one day consultation with business groups towards conservation of small wild cats was organized at Ahmedabad on 28 December 2022.

The said consultation was organized to explore possible areas of collaboration, and contributions from business groups operating in a wildlife landscape for institutionalizing a green business platform, apart from working out other financial strategies.

Under the ongoing GOI-GEF project on small wild cats, a state level inception workshop was conducted by Global Tiger Forum in association with the Forest Department of Arunachal Pradesh, UNDP and WWF at Pakke tiger reserve, Seijosa, Arunachal Pradesh on 20 December 2022 to get the input from stakeholders at landscape level.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, with State Governments of Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, UNDP, WWF and the Global Tiger Forum is implementing a Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded project: “Strengthening conservation and resilience of globally significant wild cat landscapes through a focus on small cat and leopard conservation.”

To mark the beginning of the implementation of the project, a National level Inception Workshop was organized to officially launch the project and incorporate inputs of all stakeholders as we move towards project implementation. The said Inception workshop was held on 16 November 2022, in the Meeting Hall of Dudhwa National Park, Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, India, which is one of the three project landscapes in the country.

This project will secure the conservation of globally significant wild cat landscapes in northern, north-eastern and western India through a landscape conservation approach for wild cats that brings together species conservation programs, connects stakeholders and empowers communities, and operates across PAs, tiger corridors and buffer zones.
