Project Background
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, with State Governments of Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, UNDP, and the Global Tiger Forum is implementing a GEF-funded project: Strengthening conservation and resilience of globally significant wild cat landscapes through a focus on small cat and leopard conservation.
This project will secure the conservation of landscapes in northern, northeastern, and western India through a landscape conservation approach for wild cats that brings together species conservation programs, connects stakeholders and empowers communities, and operates across PAs, tiger corridors, and buffer zones.
The services of Landscape Conservation Planners are sought for deployment at the above-mentioned duty stations to undertake the duties and responsibilities.

Build the required enabling framework and institutional capacities for sustainable conservation.

Strengthen government management of wild cats and their globally significant habitats.

Build community stewardship at the landscape level to ensure long-term resilience.

Partnerships & Knowledge
Enhance private sector partnerships, regional collaboration, and knowledge transfer supported by gender mainstreaming and M&E.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Assist in the development of landscape-level conservation plans.
- Task Force Coordination: Support the functioning of state-level task forces and stakeholder committees.
- Data Collection: Oversee field data collection and monitoring of wild cat populations.
- Liaise with State Forest Departments and local communities.
- Facilitate workshops and capacity-building programs.
Competencies
Management Skills
Ability to manage complex projects and coordinate with diverse institutional partners.
Communication Skills
Excellent reporting and presentation skills with proficiency in English and local languages.
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree + 4 years Bachelor’s + 6 years
- Degree in Wildlife Science, Environmental Science, Forestry, or related fields.
- Experience in landscape-level planning and community-based conservation.
- Proficiency in GIS and data analysis tools is desirable.
