CA|TS and Security Audit

Safeguarding a species with science and security

The Conservation Assured | Tiger Standards (CA|TS) framework is a globally recognized accreditation system designed to promote effective management of tiger conservation areas. Developed through a collaborative effort involving tiger range countries and global conservation partners, CA|TS sets minimum standards to ensure that protected areas meet the ecological, biological, and managerial requirements for sustaining viable tiger populations. The Global Tiger Forum (GTF), as an intergovernmental organization dedicated to tiger conservation, has played a pivotal role in facilitating the adoption and implementation of CA|TS across key tiger landscapes in Asia. By supporting site assessments, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement, GTF has enabled several tiger reserves, particularly in India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh, to work towards or achieve CA|TS accreditation, enhancing credibility and transparency in tiger conservation efforts.

In addition to CA|TS implementation, the Global Tiger Forum has spearheaded comprehensive security audits of tiger reserves to assess and strengthen protection measures against poaching and illegal trade. These audits evaluate the effectiveness of frontline patrolling, surveillance infrastructure, intelligence gathering, and response mechanisms. GTF’s collaborative efforts, often conducted with national governments and partners like WCCB, have provided critical inputs for adaptive management and resource allocation in priority tiger areas. The insights derived from these audits contribute to national-level policy improvements and reinforce landscape-level security frameworks, ensuring a more robust and accountable approach to tiger conservation aligned with international standards.
