A capacity-building training programme on scientific monitoring of Caracal was successfully conducted at Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary, Madhya Pradesh, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen conservation and research for this rare and lesser-known felid species.
The training was organized to enhance the technical knowledge and field skills of frontline forest staff in implementing standardized and evidence-based monitoring protocols. Key components of the programme included species ecology and identification, camera trap deployment, sign and spoor surveys, field data collection methodologies, and analysis of monitoring outputs relevant to Caracal conservation.
