Role and importance of the GTF in supporting Tiger recovery

1. Already existing mechanism and the only inter-governmental International body mandated specifically for Tiger conservation.

2. Membership of 7 Tiger range countries and UK.

3. Experience in implementing trans-boundary initiatives and capacity building.

4. Can have a common voice in international forums and conventions for promoting Tiger conservation.

5. With support, can play a vital role in immediate and long term implementation of relevant strategies identified in the GTRP utilizing already present modules and mechanisms (e.g. Trans-boundary initiatives).
